Spady Cultural Heritage Museum Documentary Series
The Spady Museum has a collection of educational documentaries depicting the history of the African American communities in Delray Beach. These documentaries are available to the community and can be requested for on-site viewing. Our outreach committee can be scheduled to bring a documentary to your site, offer a brief introduction of the Spady Museum and our mission and an overview of the information shown in the film. Each documentary is approximately 45-55 minutes long. Committee members will be present during the showing and are available to answer questions and record comments during and after the showing.
Colored Town tells the history of the communities through the voices of several long-time residents and modern historians who recount stories of the neighborhoods' earliest beginnings as well as tales about some of the earliest settlers and their families.
African Neighborhoods of Old Delray Beach is a continuation of the tribute to Delray Beach's African American roots and showcases the City's pioneering black families.
Old School-Black High Schools of Palm Beach County offers an opportunity for younger generations to learn about the educational foundation on which they now stand and learn about significant individuals who fought and paved a path for them.
