A civil rights leader. An inspirational mentor. A stellar resident of Delray Beach. Discover the life and legacy of Mr. Youngblood, as told through his personal artifacts and archives of The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum. Mr. Youngblood’s biography includes his origin story and the impact his strong leadership had on his community, his neighbors and his people, as a collective. Ozie Franklin Youngblood represents the men of his time and how they rose to meet a historical moment that would influence all who would come after them.

In 2026, the Spady House celebrates its 100th anniversary, marking a century of history and cultural significance in Delray Beach. To kick off the celebrations and our fundraising efforts, we invite you to the 100 Years of the Spady House Commemoration Opening Reception on October 5, 2024. This special event is part of the Do Good Delray initiative, in collaboration with the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Join us for an evening of art and conversation as we unveil Solomon D. Spady’s portrait, engage in a discussion with renowned artist Serge Strosberg, and explore an exhibition by the talented Ozie Youngblood. Enjoy light bites and beverages while connecting with fellow supporters of the Spady Museum.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 by 2026 to preserve and honor the legacy of the Spady House. Tickets for the event are by donation to the 100 Year Campaign. Donations start at $20. Whether you donate $20 or $200, every amount helps towards our goal.

The Kwanzaa Celebration at the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum is a vibrant community event. Families come together to make gifts, enjoy live music, engage in art activities, and participate in storytelling. Held outdoors on the museum grounds, the event highlights the seven principles of Kwanzaa with contributions from local families and youth, creating a rich and memorable experience for all. Hosted in collaboration with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sankofa Study Group, Pyramid Books, and Kwanzaa 365 Live, this celebration honors African culture and heritage in a meaningful way.

West Settlers Walking Tour
The West Settlers Neighborhood is one of the oldest settlements in Delray Beach. Pioneers from North Florida, the Bahamas and the Gullah Geechee coast came to Delray in the 1800s and 1900s seeking a safe place to build their American lives and raise their children. On this tour you will hear stories of some of those pioneers and their contributions Delray Beach.
