TICKETS & INFORMATION
On April 4, 1968 at 6:05pm, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot and killed at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. In that instant, Dr. King’s fight against the injustices black people face on a daily basis ended and his workload was redistributed to others in the fight. As the years go by and Dr. King’s legacy is passed down through the generations, those who accept the responsibility of fighting for justice and equity carry his legacy forward. We are enjoying the fruits of Dr. King’s fight. Will you leave anything for your future generations to enjoy?

THE GROWTH OF THIS EVENT
DOWN THROUGH THE YEARSThe Spady Museum’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. annual celebration began in 2001, as a community gathering in Delray Beach. The event has since grown, through invitation and word-of-mouth, to be a ‘must-attend’ occasion, where citizens, government officials, civic leaders, educators, law enforcement, clergymen and students reconnect and recommit to a year of living mindfully and with purpose.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Brunch has featured singers, poets, choirs and actors, as well as locally and nationally known guest speakers. All of them have used this platform to share their perspectives and interpretations of Dr. King’s work. Today, the Spady Museum is proud to host this well-received and oft-times sold-out event. It is our homage to a new year filled with living as Dr. King did – with dignity, purpose and respect for one other. |
