Delray Beach, FL – (December 22, 2024) – The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum begins 2025 with the 25th year of its signature event, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Often sold-out, the Dr. King, Jr. Brunch has swelled to welcome more than 300 people from Palm Beach and Broward counties. The 2025 event will feature guest speaker Don Mizell, Esq., whose work includes developing the successful marketing strategy for creation of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday (https://www.donmizell.com/). 

The brunch will also feature music by the St. John Primitive Baptist Church Praise Team and a dramatic performance by actor Tiffany Terrell of CORE Ensemble, who will portray voting rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer. The student winner of the Knights of Pythagoras’ contest will give their award-winning oratory, while guests enjoy a full breakfast buffet.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Brunchwill be held from 10 a.m. to noon, on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Indian Spring Country Club, 11501 El Clair Ranch Road, Boynton Beach, FL.

ABOUT DON MIZELL, ESQ.

Mizell is a versatile creative executive and attorney with more than 35 years’ experience in the entertainment industry in management, business development/marketing consulting, and production services. He has also been an active contributor in social and civil justice initiatives. 

Don was VP/General Manager of Urban Music and the Jazz/Fusion label at Elektra Records (where he branded and marketed the term Jazz/Fusion, which quickly became a generic term as well as a Grammy category in 1979.) During his tenure, “Dr. Don” served as Executive Producer for the albums of many significant artists, including Grover Washington, Pieces of a Dream, Lee Ritenour, DeeDee Bridgewater, Sergio Mendes, Donald Byrd, Stanley Turrentine, Patrice Rushen, Roy Ayers Ubiquity, The Lenny White Band, Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, Mikki Howard, Gilberto Gil, Ernie Watts, Dollar Brand, Oregon, and Terry Callier.


In 2005, Don Mizell received a Grammy for “Album of the Year,” as a producer of Ray Charles’ Genius Loves Company, which also garnered an all-time eight awards, sold over 6 million copies, and was the biggest record of Ray Charles’ storied career.

The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum was established in July 2001 by the non-profit organization, EXPANDING AND PRESERVING OUR CULTURAL HERITAGE, INC., a 501(c)3 Florida organization.
