When you Visit
Your tour of the Spady Museum will include the legacy of Solomon D. Spady and his invaluable contributions to Delray Beach. The museum is located in Mr. Spady’s former home, a 2-storied mission revival styled structure built in 1926. On Display: As America emerges from the Civil War, newly freed citizens make their way to South Florida for a new start. In spite of the obstacles that follow them to their new home, they thrive and leave a legacy of strong communities.
Established in 2001, The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum’s mission is to preserve and share the rich cultural experiences of Black communities.
The museum is located on the culturally diverse East coast of South Florida where the heritage of the African Diaspora combines with American history to create unique stories of Black populations that flavor the American history narrative.
